The Rage of the Phoenix

Lysandre was one of the most beautiful phoenixes his age, and becoming a spectre didn’t diminish his grace.

Aurora searched the sky with fear for her brother’s ghost. Lysandre was one of the most beautiful phoenixes his age, and becoming a spectre didn’t diminish his grace.

Lysandre’s words had always cut her like glass; he made her feel weak and dependent on him, more than any younger sister ought to be.

But his death was an accident. A sorcerer had brewed a potion for Aurora. She distrusted it, and with a careless brush of her wings, spilled the potion on her brother’s head.

Her screams drowned out her brother’s cry as fire engulfed him. But she didn’t grieve.

This is my drabble (100 words) for Bradan Writes StoriesSeedling Challenge prompt. I started this story as a dribble (50 words), and I’ll write longer and longer pieces as I reveal more of what happened between Aurora and Lysandre.
