With a burst of anger, you punch the disconnect button on your partner’s phone.
You have no interest in hearing any more of Varia’s sexual taunts.
But now, you face your partner with a glower. “Will you explain what happened there? Be honest,” you snap.
Your partner folds their arms and gives you a hard stare. You often wonder what that perfect face is hiding, as they’re not always open about their feelings. But today… Your partner sighs.
“I don’t know what kind of mayhem this deranged person cooked up,” they say. “I’ve never met someone called Varia before. They must be a scammer, just like that mysterious texter warning us about Vacation Roulette.”
You sniff. In the stress over Varia’s call, you almost forgot about Vacation Roulette. “Would you cheat on me, though, to save someone else’s marriage? I’m not talking about a hypothetical quiz question, but for real.”
Your partner meets your eyes without flinching. “Yes, but the circumstances would have to be strongly justified. It has to be something my conscience can live with.”
Still, you shoot your partner a wary look.
They sigh. “You can’t seriously believe this random stranger over me, can you?”
You realize how tired your partner looks, and your heart softens a bit, but only by a bit.
“So,” your partner says, “are we still going on Vacation Roulette?”
Can you let Varia go and get on Vacation Roulette? Or do you want to investigate this Varia and reject the vacation?
You:
- Go on Vacation Roulette and forget about Varia.
- Reject Vacation Roulette and investigate who Varia is.
